WESTERN CAPE: Efforts to make our communities safe landed a 30-year-old man behind bars for the possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Members of the Vredenburg Cluster Reaction Unit followed up information about firearms at a premises in Ascot Street, Long Acres, Langebaan. The premises were searched and the members found two Taurus.38 special revolvers with ammunition in a safe and a .22 revolver hidden in a printer.
The suspect made a court appearance yesterday in Hopefield Magistrates’ court.
In an unrelated matter, the Hermanus Crime Prevention Unit arrested two adult foreign nationals on a charge of tampering with infrastructure. The members received a complaint that a Vodacom communication tower in Vermont had been activated. The suspects fled the scene when they saw police approaching. After two hours, the suspects returned to the tower and were arrested.
Once charged, the suspects will appear in Hermanus Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charge.
