WESTERN CAPE: The vigilance and determination of police members to rid the streets of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, led to the successful recovery of a firearm in N Block Riverview, Worcester yesterday.
Members of the Worcester Crime Prevention Unit were busy with patrols when they received information about a firearm in a flat in Riverview and followed up the information.
The members saw a male outside the flat and when he saw the police approaching he ran into the flat with police members short on his heels.
The suspect was apprehended and found in possession of a 9mm Luger pistol with ammunition.
Once charged the suspect will appear in the Worcester Magistrates court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
