Media Statement

“Government allows malignant crime plague to flourish; self-defence firearms a necessity in South Africa”

Written by firearms.co.za

“You must own a firearm for self-defence in South Africa as government endangers you while failing their constitutional mandate of safeguarding citizens and allowing the South African malignant crime plague to flourish.” -Firearms.co.za

It should be considered an atrocity that we have come to a point in a crime infested South Africa where we need to justify the importance of bearing arms. Firearms.co.za obviously opposes the Draft Amendment Bill.

“We will make the firearms.co.za platform available to all law-abiding organisations to publish their campaigns, opinions and opposing views to the absurd bill.”

Firearms control act self-defence

Here are 11 simple reasons law-abiding citizens should be allowed to carry a firearm for in South Africa:

  1. If you can defend yourself with a firearm, you can defend your family; if you can defend your family, you can defend your neighbours; when neighbours defend each other, they defend their community. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  2. The South African Government has failed its constitutional mandate to safeguard its citizens and their property. You are most likely on your own during a violent attack against you or those close to you. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  3. Police in South Africa lose more firearms that law-abiding citizens, in fact, some of them have even sold firearms to criminals. You need a firearm for self-defence.Government gun firearm self-defence control
  4. The South African Police Service does not have the resources, ability or capacity to stop violent crime. Nor do private security firms, despite their best attempts. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  5. A responsible, well-trained and law-abiding woman with a firearm, levels the playing field against any rapist or attacker double her size. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  6. Gender based violence has reached unprecedented levels throughout the country, chances are good that thousands of rapists and murderers will escape justice as the government system to track and process forensic evidence (then for over 180 000 crimes) has been off for almost a year since 2020. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  7. Responsible, law-abiding firearm owners combat crime. You need a firearm for self-defence.Action Society Firearms self-defence
  8. Law-abiding citizens can defend themselves and their families against violent criminals. The more law-abiding citizens carry firear
ms, the bigger the deterrent to violent criminals. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  9. Law-abiding citizens that carry firearms don’t need to live in fear because they can take responsibility for their own safety. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  10. Law-abiding, well-trained firearm owners have improved situational awareness of their surroundings. You need a firearm for self-defence.
  11. When the police don’t answer, your firearm will. You need a firearm for self-defence.

Having a firearm at hand in a society where crime prevails, can save the owner and his or her family’s lives. Owning a firearm remains one of the most effective self-defence tactics all over the world. In South Africa there are 58 murders per day and in most cases the police only arrive after the bloodshed, thus you are probably on your own to stay alive.

Firearms control act

There is no reason to suffer in a life or death situation at home or at your business, if you could be properly prepared and able to defend yourself. Any law-abiding South African citizen has the right to defend themselves and a firearm in well-trained hands is the most effective tool in most scenarios.

Owning a firearm allows you to exercise your constitutional rights and there is no reason to compromise one’s freedom or personal security, we must fight any amendments that want to hijack South Africans from this right.
